Yildirim Complex

Yildirim Complex located in the center of Yildirim district of Bursa is a multiple constructed magnificent complex showing the transition of Ottomans from principality to a state. It was built by the fourth Ottoman Sultan Yildirim Bayezid between 1390-1399.

It contains a mosque, madrasa, almshouse, bathhouse, tomb, and the first hospital of the Ottoman Empire (Darussifa). The tomb where Yildirim Bayezid’s grave exists was added after his death by his son Emir Suleyman. Yildirim Complex and the other Sultan complexes in Bursa were entered the Unesco World Heritage List in 2014.
