Muradiye Complex

The complex is located in the Muradiye neighborhood. The neighborhood and the complex take their names from Ottoman Sultan Murad II. Murat II is the father of Fatih Sultan Mehmed who conquered Istanbul. The complex was built in 1426. In the complex, there is a mosque, bathhouse, madrasa, imaret, and 12 mausoleums that were built in the following years.

Sultan Murat II wanted the dome of his mausoleum to be open so that the rain, the sunshine, and the moonlight could reach his grave. Muradiye Complex is the last complex built in Bursa. Muradiye Complex and the other Sultan complexes in Bursa were included in the Unesco World Heritage List in 2014.
